From our humble beginnings in a garage in 1952, General Magnaplate has grown into a company with three plants in North America and licensees across the globe. Our founder, Dr. Charles P. Covino, had great pride in America and its spirit of invention. His background in engineering, chemistry and metallurgy brought forth many innovations in surface enhancement coatings. Back in the 1960’s, some of his earliest coating inventions were utilized by NASA in its fledgling space program

Our involvement continues to this day with coatings on parts for astronauts’ spacesuits, the International Space Station and the Rovers exploring Mars.
